Power from the sun, stored for the night.

Photovoltaic panels turn sunlight into electricity with no moving parts. They run your appliances, charge your batteries or feed the utility grid, and they keep doing it for decades. Off-grid, grid-tied or both, for induction cooking, hot water and EV charging.

Diagram E-200: one day of an off-grid solar and battery power system Over 24 hours the sun rises, crosses the sky and sets. Solar panels charge a battery bank through a charge controller while the house runs through an inverter and electrical panel. In the afternoon the battery fills; at night the battery carries the house. If the battery runs low, a backup generator or the grid tops it up. 06:00 ENOONW 18:00 06:00 PV ARRAY0.0 kW CHARGECONTROLLER BATTERY BANK 60% INVERTERDC → AC AC PANELbreakers HOUSE LOADS 0.4 kWfridge, lights BACKUPgenerator / grid · off DCAC

Off the grid, on it, or both.

Off-grid

Most common where there is no utility service, but it works anywhere. The system runs independently and supplies all of the building’s electricity. It needs a battery bank for nights and cloudy weather, a charge controller to protect the batteries from overcharging, an inverter to turn the panels’ DC power into AC for household appliances, and the disconnects, monitoring and safety equipment that go with them.

Grid-intertie

The building stays connected to the utility. The panels supply the building first; surplus can go to the grid, and the grid covers any shortfall. Add batteries and it becomes a hybrid: when the grid goes down, you still have plenty of power.

Other sources

Wind, micro hydro and biodiesel generators can charge the same battery bank where the site offers them.

02Power center

The Power Organizing Module.

One pre-wired, factory-tested panel that holds everything between the panels, the batteries and the house.

Pre-wired Power Organizing Module with inverter, charge controller and breakers mounted on one wall panel
Power Organizing Module · wall-mounted
What it holdsInverter/charger, charge controller, AC and DC wiring boxes and breakers, PV and battery breakers, ground-fault and surge protection, bypass assembly.
ModesOff-grid and grid-tied in one system, including modes that blend grid and stored solar power and support a backup generator.
BatteriesAdvanced charging for a wide range of battery types, including lithium-ion.
Sizes120 V or 230 V, 50 or 60 Hz, roughly 2.5 to 3.6 kW per inverter, stackable for larger buildings.
InstallHangs on a wall bracket and connects. Pre-wired and certified components make for a faster, code-compliant installation.
MonitoringRemote control and monitoring from any internet-connected device; software upgradable in the field.
Good forHomes, cabins, farm buildings, remote sites and backup power.
