Section X-100: site prep and septic A site section. On the left, the original slope has been cut and filled to a level, compacted building pad with a driveway graded to drain away from it. A sewer line runs from the pad to a buried septic tank, then to a distribution box that splits the effluent into three gravel leach trenches in the native soil. A compact excavator works at the end of the last trench.
